What happens when a passing team meets better players:

'Potter's side favour a passing, possession-based game but they constantly lived on the edge in playing from the back. Mkhitaryan punished a sloppy pass by defender Tom Pettersson for Arsenal's second goal but even that did not deter the Swedes from their preferred approach.'

Sounds depressingly familiar.

I can see the point you are making, but it's all down to decision making really. The best passing teams in the country don't (or rarely) put players under unnecessary pressure, then of course you have a players' "first touch" to consider, with top players it is so much better, so the pressure issue is often eliminated. Didn't go to Oldham, but I saw enough last Saturday to give me confidence that we can play this type of football.

Agree AC. Its harder, so you have to have technically better players to pull it off. It worked for us with Chadwick and Dele in the team.

The rest of the time we’ve been just above average despite the training.

I haven’t bought into DM being the answer. The bigger answer is in the recruitment.

I argued in the past for more physicality to give us penetration when passing wasn’t working. In Chuks we have that (occasionally when he plays and when refs allow him to use his strength).

I agree at times he is unplayable at this level, but he & Robbie Muirhead need to be smarter and learn from the likes of Aaron Wilbraham or even ask Lewie how to position their body to draw fouls.
