If you haven’t already seen it this is a good article on the classy Ward.
https://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/sport/fo ... -1-8438953I can’t think of a better CB in our short history. We’ve had some great battlers, aerial masters and silky balls players, but none who combine all three with such style and effectiveness. He is a delight to watch and massive for our defensive confidence.
I hope he stays with us in whichever league we find ourselves. He looks like he has a few good seasons left in him.

Swailes, O'Hanlon and Doumbe.............But agree Ward is decent.

Yeah, I would never doubt his quality and he rarely let himself down when he played at centre half for us, but I still prefer to see him playing in midfield where he has more opportunity to spray the ball around. Just for the record, he scored after 27 seconds for Millwall in their 2-0 win over Notts Forest yesterday.

Yes I saw that, I found a stream and watched it. Near post header. He does a good job but wasted in a team that likes to hoof it over his head.
There are plenty of decent midfielders but quality ball playing centre backs much less so. I’m sure he would have played for Ireland had he stayed at CB

I confess chaps, that none of those mentioned above match him for all round ability in my view.
Williams - not as good defending
The three baldies - not as good in possession and distribution.
Each had their strengths and Doumbe was great running forward.

O'Hanlon also scored 15 goals in 161 appearances, not bad for a centre half.
