This season a low point for the standard of refereeing

Putting aside the perception that lower teams don't get a fair rub of the green, this season has been a particularly poor one for the standard of officiating. It hasn't contained some of the howlers like Gleeson being sent off for being within 2 metres of a diving cheat against Pish in the semi finals, but just consistently poor.

For example, there was a Hand of God handball by McGlashan yesterday which was completely missed by our friend Gavin Ward. His hand controlled the ball about two feet above his head. How do four officials miss that?

Chuks also had another rough ride with the officials. Ward booked him where there was barely any contact.

In the end I don't think we would have won many more games if the officiating had been better, maybe two or three. That's not the point. The point is you hope that standards improve over time. That just isn't happening.
