So when was the rule changed that allows managers to run onto the pitch in a league game and kick the ball to his players to take a free kick ? Tisdale did it today and got a little talking to but no action taken.

No, there hasn't been a rule change but I thought the referee, who was given a difficult last 10 minutes or so to control, handled this particular incident in a good and sensible manner.

David Martin deliberately delayed kicking the ball back to where an infringement, in our favour, was to take place and his yellow card was justified. Tisdale was wrong to go on the pitch and retrieve the ball but the game had been stopped for a short period and the ball was in no-mans land. It was frustration that made him go and get it, much to the delight of the Exeter supporters, and it would have been petty for the referee to take stronger action.
